Details

Rooted expresses Lucia Eames’ deep connection to nature, evoking organic structures, growth patterns and the quiet networks that unfold beneath the surface.

Inspired by one of her collages, the design is translated through hand-tufted New Zealand wool, using carved levels to create variation in height. This technique reflects the layered composition of the original work, resulting in a soft, warm surface with a sense of depth.

Its strong graphic presence and generous pile make it ideal as a grounding element within a space, combining comfort with a subtle artistic narrative.

Lucia Eames Collection

Lucia Eames, born in 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Charles and Catherine Eames, spent the first 10 years of her life with them-including time in the rich creative environment of Michigan’s Cranbrook Academy of Art.  After her parents’ divorce, she returned to St. Louis with her mother for the school year, spending summers in California with her father and Ray Eames. While deeply influenced by that legendary design duo, Lucia Eames’s own creative path unfolded quietly and deliberately, largely outside the public eye beginning with her education in the 1950s and her move to California in 1960, all the while raising 5 children. Today, her work rewards renewed attention, allowing her unique voice, sensibility, and artistic language to emerge in their own right.
