Matiz

Matiz, a new collection designed by Julie Richoz, explores colour through a unique and entirely handcrafted process.

Conceived as a dhurrie, MATIZ reinterprets traditional weaving techniques by shifting the focus from pre-dyed yarns to a more experimental approach. Each rug begins with a handwoven base in a single colour. Once completed, a contrasting tone is applied through a manual dyeing process, allowing the pigment to interact organically with the woven surface.

This method results in subtle variations and irregularities that make every piece one of a kind. No two rugs are identical: each dye application unfolds differently, bringing depth, nuance, and a sense of material richness to the final composition. The contrast is further emphasized through the binding, which frames the rug and enhances its chromatic dialogue.

Hand loomed using a blend of 65% hand-spun Afghan wool and 35% New Zealand wool, MATIZ balances artisanal character with durability. Its low profile (4 mm) and dense structure make it suitable for a wide range of interior settings.

Available in a range of sizes and formats, the collection adapts its design language to each proportion. MATIZ is offered in four colourways: Mustard, Rose, Taupe, and Ivory.
